A 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Port–au-Prince, Haiti, on January 12, 2010. The earthquake lasted one minute, just enough time to kill many thousands of people and destroy countless buildings.

CLEAN WATER is desperately needed to save children's lives

HEART is extremely concerned about the children and the families in the affected area. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world where 20,000 children under the age of 5 died of malnutrition and other causes in 2007 (UNICEF's most recent numbers).

HEART now helps Haiti.

The water crisis in Haiti is nothing new.  They have been dealing with this lack of water for hundred of years.  Unfortunately now it is worse. Roughly 5,000 children die every day from water-borne illness. There is a solution. Ceramic water filters remove 99.98% of bacteria including e coli, fecal coli form, and total coli form, cholera as well as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
